Life On Earth In 100 Years

Maybe today's world looks like science fiction to people who lived 100 years ago, but that change is nothing compared to what we are expecting in the next 100 years. Cities underwater, life in “earthquakes”, 3D printed food, holidays on the moon, and trips to Mars are just some “futuristic wonders” that will change the life we know today from the root.

The first major change that awaits us will be the response to the explosive increase in the world's total population over the next 100 years, as the planet's current population of 7.4 billion by 2116 is expected to reach the dizzying 16 billion. In translation, this means that the life we have known so far will no longer be possible, so in a few decades, people will start getting homes for the first time in completely incredible places.

Life in underwater cities

There are already plans to build a futuristic city under the water called “Ocean Spiral”. The underwater city will take the form of an airy sphere, 500 meters in diameter, and will house 5,000 people and will be built by 2030. Flats, shops, offices, hotels, and sports facilities will be built inside the structure and will be entered via a 15-kilometer spiral connected to the floating dome on the surface. This pioneering endeavor is only an overture for similar projects that will soon begin to flourish around the world, reassure scientists and apostrophe the underwater cities as one of the best solutions for the future because water is suitable for creating an airy atmosphere and would be used to create the oxygen needed to live on Earth.

Super skyscrapers and excavators

Futurology scientists announce that today's cloud-makers will be replaced by “super-cloud-makers” in the future, that is, megastructures relative to which today's tapeworms will act as dwarves. Construction of such tall and stable buildings will be facilitated by new construction technology, carbon nanotubes, and diamond nano-threads to be used as building materials.

And that's not all. Lack of living space will have to be compensated in other ways as well, so instead of buildings above ground, people will start living in “earthmoving” or underground buildings that will go up to 25 floors deep into the earth's crust. The furniture in the homes will be printed with 3D technology at the request of the owner, and in the same way houses and other buildings will be produced.

22nd-century lifestyle

The way of life in the 22nd century is perhaps best reflected by the usual everyday life. People will be fed 3D printed food and will be able to “download” their desired meals from the internet in a split second. At workplaces, holograms will allow virtual meetings to be held without the physical presence of employees, and people will not bother with the design of their workspace or homes as classic walls will be replaced by smart LED screens that will automatically change and adapt to the mood of the household.

But the most attractive moments of the future are yet to come. Futurology scientists predict that personal drones will become a common means of transportation, but they will not only be able to transport people and their families but entire homes. Thus, the search for hotels will remain a thing of the present, as our descendants will transport even their homes to selected destinations on the planet by “futuristic mammals” (large private drones).

And even planet Earth will not be the only possible destination, since the colonization of the moon and then Mars is foreseen for the next 100 years. That way, people will be able to spend the holidays on the moon or take trips to Mars, which, at least for those with a deeper pocket, will be a common part of their lifestyle. From today's perspective, it's going to be real science fiction.
