As Halloween nears many people will be seeking out new and exciting adventures, if finding a ghost or having a paranormal experience is on your Halloween to-do list we might be able to point you in the right direction.
This time of year is hectic when it comes to the spirit world, groups like ours see no difference between Halloween and the rest of the year, but others may only be interested in receiving exciting thrills in a way that your normal Halloween scare houses and actors just can't accomplish.
Here we want to give our best tips and advice for a safe, exciting, and successful paranormal outing. Keep in mind that the fewer people you have, the more of a chance you will have to experience something otherworldly.
Your group should only consist of two-three friends for a small paranormal investigation, Any more would limit the notice of abnormal activity. Even when we conduct professional paranormal investigations we try to limit our field investigators to no more than four.
It's best that planning begins as soon as possible prior to your investigation. The last thing you want is to show up at a haunted location for six-twelve hours unprepared.
To point you in the right direction we have constructed a top five list of paranormal investigation tips.
1. Gain access to a haunted location
You should always secure legal permission to the location you plan on visiting, especially since you will be doing this late at night.
Be sure that your chosen location has a well-known reputation for being haunted like was it featured on T.V or in a newspaper? These would be your ideal locations if you are truly looking for an encounter. Many haunted hotels and bed and breakfasts are easily accessible being that it's their business to rent rooms and play host to guests. Some are even open about their paranormal occurrences and promote it as a way of attracting business.
2. Don't rush your investigation planning or research
You may find this very exciting and will most likely overlook critical information as you move closer to staying the night in a haunted place. Thoughts will often be of what you will or won't experience during the night, or if you are new to this you may find it a little scary.
You should start researching the location three-six days prior to your overnight investigation. This way you will have a better understanding of what the investigation will bring.
3. Don't talk about the investigation
As attempting as it may seem, telling all of your friends about your upcoming investigation or sharing details of it online is not a good idea, if you are investigating a public place, especially outside you don't want uninvited guests showing up during the night.
Other than the two-three investigators that will be staying the night, you should at least have one person who is aware of your location and the estimated time of return.
4. Get plenty of rest the day of the investigation
If you planning on staying the entire night at a haunted place, you should get plenty of rest during the day. If you go into the investigation tired you may fall asleep or your mind could start to play tricks on you.
The last thing you want is to be fighting sleep while trying to have a paranormal encounter at 3:00am.
5. Don't worry about having tons of equipment
When you are all set to investigate and you got all your research together, it's time to know what you need to bring and what you should leave at home.
You may see on T.V the massive load of investigation equipment used during professional expeditions, you will be using only a small fraction of what they use.
